Carl is a professional transport contractor serving the local community for almost twenty years. Old-fashioned courtesy together with fair and reasonable prices have always been the hallmark of his business.

Moving things from A to B is a simple enough task. That does not mean you should use just anyone though. You still want an experienced person who will arrive on time, complete the job quickly, without drama or breakages, and charge you a reasonable price.

You should not necessarily seek the cheapest option you can find though. Not unless you want a dirty, rusty old van that drips oil on your driveway, a driver who leaves footprints up your hallway and drops cigarette ash on your carpet.

Always remember, when hiring a van and driver, you are inviting someone to your home. You should be as sure as you can be about anyone you invite to your home in this day and age.

We are based in Ashton-Under-Lyne (OL6) so one of the addresses (either start or destination) should be relatively local to us; for example: Hyde, Godley, Mottram, Glossop, Ashton, Dukinfield, Stalybridge, Gorton, Reddish, Heaton Moor/Norris/Mersey/Chapel, Levenshulme, Denton, Audenshaw, central Stockport, Burnage or Didsbury for example. We do not currently work on Sundays (exceptions being short jobs local to Ashton).

Hourly rates quoted refer to jobs within Greater Manchester and the immediately surrounding areas. We are happy to undertake work to other cities and different parts of the country. If you want to arrange an out-of-town job, please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Simple Pricing Structure

There is nothing worse than hiring someone to do a job, thinking that their pricing is simple and transparent, only to find that they try to sting you at the end.

Other people may lure you to call them with a cheap advertised hourly rate, only to try to overcharge you later. Some want fuel surcharges and some want VAT or other extras on top. We don't do any of that. What you see below is what you pay!

Our base rate is just £30 per hour for one of our vans. This buys you one man and a Mercedes Sprinter luton van like the one pictured above.

Two man job? We can supply an extra man. He will cost an extra £10 per hour. If you prefer, find your own second man and send him with the driver, or just come along yourself.

What about parts of an hour, and minimum charges? Our minimum charge is one hour. After one hour we charge in 30 minute increments. If your job takes an hour and twenty five minutes, the cost is an hour and a half.

We don't dawdle, chat, drink tea, stand around smoking or stop off at cafe's on the way and waste your chargeable time.

No VAT, no fuel surcharges and no hidden extras. What you see is what you pay!

What Kind of Jobs?

Most of our day-to-day work is small local jobs that can be completed in an hour or two. We also undertake full and part house removals.

As a general rule, if it will fit in our van, we will move it. The list of different and unusual things we have moved over the years is too numerous to list here. We are also approved as carriers for most Councils and Housing Associations.

Many people use us to collect goods from stores rather than pay their excessive delivery charges. Many big stores charge anything between £35 and £70 for delivery to your house in three weeks time. What they don't tell you is that they are unable to offer a timed delivery to suit you. They hit you with the old, "Are you home all day?" line when it is in stock. Most such stores will have your item sent to a store of your choice for collection by you (or us) free of charge. That way, we can collect it on your behalf and deliver it at a time to suit you. We will even assemble flat pack furniture and dispose of the waste packaging for you.

Other Useful Information

Our vans have satellite navigation. This means we do not get lost, take the long route or spend half an hour reading the A-Z at your expense. They are also carpeted, insulated and equipped with check straps, blankets, two-wheel trucks, etc.

We are based in Ashton, OL6. Within easy reach of the M67 and the M60.

Our vans: The vans are long wheelbase, high roof luton Mercedes Sprinters. The load space is 4 metres long by 2.1 Metres wide and 2.3 Meters high. In imperial, that is around 13' long, 7' wide and 7'6" high. In simple terms: big enough for most things.

We do not charge extra for local work during weekends, in the evenings and on public holidays (subject to availability).
